I’m a member of the Baha’i faith, and want to be with someone who likes to do things that make the world a little better, can become a good friend and then possibly become more. A wonderful man and I developed a serious friendship and then were married for almost 36 years, until he died, so I know that a serious relationship based on trust, fun, and shared experience doesn’t happen overnight.
I’d like someone to join me in learning to play pool, checkers, chess, and poker – things I missed when I was busy with my family and career - and I can learn things with him. I like to write stories from my family, fantasy, and the adventure of spiritual transformation. My generation of African-American descendants of slaves has seen historical changes that I don’t believe any other generation has seen and we need to write it. I’m writing more than before and it would be great to share perspectives and examples of what we’ve read and written.
I’d like company having nearby adventures for now, going on monthly artist dates, to jazz brunches, volunteering for groups that bridge cultural, ethnic, racial differences between people, and generally making every day the most it can be.
I’m re-learning how to walk without the support of a wheelchair, walker or cane after brain surgery about 4 years ago. The surgery saved my life and gave me a perspective on living I never would have had otherwise. It helped me see the blessing of every day I can open my eyes. Though very well disguised, it was a real gift! Since the surgery, I’ve traveled to Haifa, Israel for abut 10 days on Baha’i pilgrimage, and to Dubai for three weeks to visit one of my sons, among other places. I rode a camel 50 years after I rode one the first time!
If the relationship matures, maybe we can travel and spend a month or so volunteering in countries on each continent.
